Mendocino Lighthouses

There are 2 lighthouses on the Mendocino Coast. Both are interesting and unique.

The Point Cabrillo Lighthouse has a marine science exhibit in the outbuilding by the lighthouse.

Point Cabrillo Light Station

The Point Cabrillo Light Station is still a working lighthouse and an aide to navigation. The visitor’s center and marine science exhibit are open year round. Eight times per year, the lighthouse docents give tours of the fresnel lens. If you get a chance, check them out. There lighthouse is a good spot to watch for whales and see harbor seals hauled out on the rocks.

You can see the San Andreas Fault to the north of the Point Arena Lighthouse.

Point Arena Lighthouse

Located just north of the town of Point Arena. The Point Arena Lighthouse is perched on the uplifted sandstone cliffs near the San Andreas Fault.
